Cloud Tech 2025 Recap

Start of Cloud Tech 2025: speech by Roman Filobok, CEO of Wise IT

In his opening speech, Roman Filobok noted that AI is a real tool that is changing business. Recent research from Google Cloud proves that more than half of the leaders of the world’s leading companies have already implemented AI solutions into their processes. Based on the results of projects completed this year, it is clear that the fear of AI (“will the machine replace us?”) is changing to conscious use.

For the third time, Cloud Tech is becoming a platform for exchanging experience and ideas on optimizing cloud infrastructure, building hybrid architectures, and integrating GenAI for client and internal applications. This year, Cloud Tech opens a new topic for discussion — cybersecurity challenges in Ukraine in the face of new threats.

Google Cloud Technology Radar

Vlad Patenko, Customer Engineering Manager, Google Cloud, presented the modern Google Cloud ecosystem to the conference participants. From compute solutions and GenAI innovations to cybersecurity and data analytics — the potential of the Google Cloud platform is revealed through the close interaction of services, allowing for the building of an innovative and secure infrastructure with high availability.

Managing Complexity: How Google Cloud AI Agents are Becoming the Brain Center of the Modern Enterprise

Anna Doroshenko, Enterprise Account Executive, Google Cloud, delved into the AI functionality of Google Cloud, presenting the capabilities of Gemini Enterprise (formerly Google Agentspace).

Gemini Enterprise empowers teams by offering not only advanced Gemini models but also a flexible development platform for specialized assistants. Create unique agents in a way that is convenient for you — with or without code, from scratch, or based on a large library of templates. These intelligent assistants help teams easily process thousands of documents, organize tasks from email and other services, generate content, and enter data in natural language.

In addition, in client applications, Gemini Enterprise acts as a proactive support service, providing accurate answers to requests based on the most current information.

NotebookLM: An AI tool for personal effectiveness

The speech by Oleksandr Koval, Google Workspace Product Manager at Wise IT, was dedicated to how to take the first step towards the successful implementation of GenAI solutions by a team. The NotebookLM tool can be an excellent starting point for including the team in working with AI tools. The solution allows you to create a knowledge base for a department or the entire organization, conduct quick onboarding of employees, and generate structured diagrams and videos based on your sources.

Successful cloud migration cases: the experience of leading Ukrainian companies

Varus — How VARUS.UA taught the marketplace to understand the client

Oleh Spirin, CEO, VARUS.UA, spoke about how the company implemented the Gemini solution for searching products in natural language to move from traditional search by SKU to understanding the “life scenarios” of customers. Instead of a query for “milk” or “beet,” the client can write “Breakfast for the family” or “ingredients for borsch” in the search. The Varus marketplace’s AI search selects the necessary items from the product catalog. This solution already allows users to find the right products more easily, and the average check containing items from the AI search has increased.

Fishka — Data-Driven Loyalty: from clustering to personal video

Olha Semchuk, CEO, Fishka, presented a whole range of AI innovations introduced by the company to the Cloud Tech participants:

  1. Machine learning technologies help the company distribute customers among 6 loyalty categories and provide relevant offers depending on purchase statistics.
  2. A chatbot for gas station employees built into the Fishka application allows them to submit requests to the Service Desk, and artificial intelligence will help with request categorization.
  3. Google’s VEO 3.1 model generates animated video greetings for app users.

Tranzzo — Payment orchestration: 99.95% SLA with cloud solutions.

Yuliia Vitriak, Deputy CEO, Tranzzo, presented the payment orchestration technology that the payment service uses to guarantee fast transaction processing. Tranzzo Payment Orchestration offers business clients Smart Routing with 30+ rules, a unified API for all payment channels, 15+ banks connected to Smart Routing, and a single checkout instead of several bank pages. Together with the Google Cloud infrastructure, the solution provides an SLA level of 99.95%.

NOVA Group — When complex becomes simple: knowledge base + AI.

Yuliia Steblevska, Head of the Knowledge Base Development and Automation Department at NOVA, and Daniil Maltsev, Head of the Change Management Office, demonstrated a corporate knowledge base with artificial intelligence for NOVA Group employees, built with the help of Wise IT specialists.

The knowledge base is created on Google Sites and provides a “Single source of truth” for all NOVA Group companies. The key technology is the integration of Vertex AI Search from Google Cloud, which allowed for the creation of an intelligent search widget. This widget generates accurate, summarized answers to complex queries in natural language, supports multilingualism, and significantly reduces the time employees spend searching for information.

Modern Expo — Investing in yourself: How Modern-Expo replaced external SaaS with its own platform on Google Cloud.

Serhii Leherko, Head of IT Division, Modern Expo, told how Modern Expo made a strategic decision to create a unified operating platform on Google Cloud. The company chose the Google cloud for its flexible “building blocks” rather than ready-made “boxes.” Modern Expo built an architecture where BigQuery serves as the data core, Looker Studio performs visualization functions, and Cloud Run ensures the operation of interfaces. This new platform, integrated with the company’s accounting system, allowed for the replacement of old SaaS. As a result, Modern Expo gained complete technological independence, flexibility, and speed unattainable when using standard SaaS-solutions.

Ukrgasbank — Find a file in a second: artificial intelligence for searching through gigabytes of documentation.

Serhii Bondarenko, Chief Data & AI Officer, Ukrgasbank, spoke about the creation of the “Norma” AI agent to solve the problem of searching in a huge database of regulatory documents. Existing tools were ineffective, creating a “responsibility paradox” where employees did not have quick access to the norms for which they were responsible. The new system replaced keyword search with semantic search, capable of providing key quotes with links to sources and intelligent summaries. The solution is based on a hybrid architecture that uses Google Cloud (Vertex AI): documents from Google Drive undergo preprocessing and are loaded into the Vector Store, hosted in Vertex AI. A special “agent-microservice” accesses both cloud models (Gemini 2.5) and local ones, providing answers to users via Open WebUI.

The Google Cloud Ecosystem and Integration with Third-Party Solutions

In this block of speeches, experts from VMware and Veeam shared current knowledge on building virtualized environments and reliable backups in the Google Cloud ecosystem.

  • Oleksandr Kupchynetskyi, Lead Solution Engineer at VMware by Broadcom, presented modern capabilities for migrating VMware virtualized environments to Google Cloud, which make the process of moving to the cloud much simpler and cheaper. It was also demonstrated how VMware solutions help simplify operations in an existing cloud infrastructure.
  • Tomasz Turek, Senior Systems Engineer at Veeam, spoke about the important role of third-party backup solutions in the context of large cloud providers moving towards the “all-in-one” principle. The speaker also conducted a practical demonstration of Veeam backup and recovery in the Google Cloud ecosystem.

The AI Demand Landscape: Business Expectations vs. Implementation Realities

Yevhenii Bachynskyi, Vice President of Sigma Software and a member of the AI Committee of the IT Ukraine Association, presented an analysis of artificial intelligence implementation trends at Cloud Tech, based on research from leading analytical agencies. The goal of the analysis is to find out the reasons for the failures of AI projects and to find ways to avoid mistakes when implementing innovations.

The main problem: “The Maturity Gap”

Although businesses are actively using AI to reduce costs, the real “maturity” of implementation remains low — only 1% of executives are satisfied with the level of GenAI integration. Companies are massively using ready-made LLM solutions but are not ready for more complex, integrated tools.

Two keys to success in complex AI projects:

  1. People: Teams need practical experience and internal “champions” — leaders who are ready to lead the team through complex automation projects.
  2. Strategy: Successful companies are changing their approach to procurement.

New procurement model: BPO instead of SaaS

The most effective companies don’t just “buy SaaS,” they behave like “BPO clients” (business process outsourcing). This means:

  • Customization: They demand deep adaptation of the solution for themselves.
  • Responsibility: They require the supplier to guarantee the achievement of business indicators.
  • Partnership: They understand that success is a joint effort, not just buying a “box.”

Panel discussion “Generative AI is no longer hype, but a reality”

The year 2025 has seen the active implementation of generative AI into business processes and company infrastructure. The practical experience of this integration became the key topic of the panel discussion at Cloud Tech. IT leaders discussed which solutions are already bringing results, which projects have the greatest potential, and, what is especially valuable, analyzed initiatives that failed to be implemented, as well as the obstacles that stood in the way of implementation.

The discussion participants included:

  • Oleh Spirin, CEO, VARUS.UA,
  • Oleksandr Konivnenko, Head of Digital Data Department, Netpeak Ukraine;
  • Serhii Bondarenko, Chief Data & AI Officer, Ukrgasbank;

The panel discussion was moderated by Oleksandr Kozub, Head of Cloud Solutions at Wise IT, and the discussion was heated up by Vlad Patenko, Custom Engineering Manager from Google Cloud. This discussion became an important stage in understanding the real possibilities of generative AI and its role in business.

Panel discussion “Challenges in the field of cybersecurity in Ukraine over the last year”

In the conditions of a full-scale invasion by the aggressor, when cyber incidents are targeted attacks by a neighboring state — cybersecurity becomes especially important. To learn how to protect data and work processes from attacks, the Wise IT team gathered leading cybersecurity experts at Cloud Tech.

The panel discussion was moderated by Oleh Matata, Director of the Information Security Department, Okko Group.

Also among the speakers were:

  • Serhii Leherko, Head Of IT Division, Modern Expo
  • Taras Loboda, Director of the Information Security Department, Universal Bank
  • Andrii Melnyk, CISO, Avrora Multimarket
  • Oleksandr Voloshchuk, Deputy Director for Cybersecurity, KMDA

Main theses of the discussion:

  1. GenAI as a weapon: Participants analyzed how artificial intelligence is already being used for new, more sophisticated attacks.
  2. Complexities of automation: Although automation of cyber defense is necessary, the blind implementation of solutions itself creates new risks.
  3. Protection starts with everyone: The “human factor” remains the most important element. Experts emphasized the critical importance of continuous training for all employees and regular “training” of the team through simulated phishing attacks.

Demo zones at the event: technologies in action

We are convinced that the true value of innovation is known only through personal experience. That’s why the Wise IT team created special demo zones where each participant could experience the future firsthand and personally test:

  • Generative AI from Google Cloud;
  • Capabilities of Google Cloud infrastructure solutions;
  • The corporate operating system Chrome OS;
  • Gemini artificial intelligence in Google Workspace.

At Cloud Tech 2025, the Wise IT team was joined by colleagues from Tranzzo and Fishka. Representatives of these companies, who built their infrastructure on Google Cloud, presented their own technological and business solutions. The Fishka team presented their own research at the event, “Loyalty as a new currency.” You can currently read it for free at the link.

Personal portraits of Cloud Tech participants, drawn by robo-hands

One of the features of Cloud Tech 2025 was an interactive activity where technology met art. Participants collected special stamps on a postcard, which turned into a canvas for a robotic arm that drew the guest’s portrait.

This personalized postcard served three functions at once: it was a unique magnetic souvenir, a “canvas” for the robo-portrait, and a lottery ticket for the evening drawing.
