Google Workspace Studio is here: AI-powered automation of routine processes right in Google Workspace
The Google team has announced the general availability of Google Workspace Studioa place for designing, managing, and sharing AI agents in Workspace. Leveraging the reasoning capabilities and multimodal understanding of Gemini 3, Google experts have created AI automation that is easy to use, deeply integrated into Google Workspace, and empowers every employee to create their own agents. With Workspace Studio, users can create agents in minutes to automate daily work, from simple tasks to complex workflows, without writing code or knowing special syntax.

Why the Google team is introducing agent-based automation in Workspace

Employees spend countless hours on daily routines: reviewing emails, coordinating logistics in calendars, and tracking follow-up tasks. Previous automation tools were technically complex for the average user. That is why Google Workspace experts are introducing easy-to-set-up custom agents directly into Workspace — so users can delegate repetitive tasks to artificial intelligence that can evaluate information, understand context, and perform work that previously slowed employees down.

Google Workspace Studio is a place for creating, managing, and sharing AI agents in Google Workspace.

Automate complex tasks with AI agents in Google Workspace

While traditional automation logic relies on strict rules, rigid conditions, and programming skills, Workspace Studio agents are designed by Google experts to be accessible and flexible. Thanks to the advanced capabilities of Gemini, these agents can analyze problems, instantly adapt to new information, and solve complex end-to-end business processes.

For example, Kärcher, a global leader in cleaning solutions, collaborated with Google Cloud through a partner to become one of the first users of Workspace Studio. Previously, their digital platforms team evaluated new feature ideas through a fragmented, lengthy process that relied on live meetings and disparate notes that were difficult to track.

To optimize their approach, Kärcher deployed a virtual team of agents created in Studio. Now, when a new feature idea is proposed in Chat, a Brainstorming Gem evaluates its benefits, a Technical Gem performs a feasibility check, a UX Gem describes the possible user journey, and a final Gem compiles a full user story for the team’s review based on the results of the previous steps. This reduced the preparation time for drafts based on new feature ideas by 90%, turning hours of manual consolidation into a review-ready plan in just two minutes.

Empower everyone to create agents in Workspace

Workspace customers in the Google Gemini Alpha program are already using Workspace Studio — even before the platform’s general release, these agents were helping customers complete over 20 million tasks per month: from automating reports and setting reminders to business-critical processes such as sorting legal notices and managing travel requests.

Whether the algorithms consist of two steps or twenty, what unites these agents is that they are created by the people who best understand the context of the problem. Users don’t need to know programming to create their own automation. You can start with a template or simply describe what you need to automate in natural language, and Gemini 3 will create it. For example, you can give a prompt: “If an email contains a question for me, mark it with the ‘Reply’ label and send a notification in Chat.”

Studio creates an agent for intelligent detection and labeling of priority emails in the inbox.
Studio instantly creates an agent using Gemini 3 to determine which incoming emails contain questions. The tool can go even further — extracting important details such as action items or invoice numbers from emails and their attachments. And since collaboration is at the heart of Workspace, users worldwide will soon be able to share their agents with their team as easily as Chat Gems or files in Google Drive.

Organize work across all apps

Because agents are deeply integrated with Workspace apps like Gmail, Drive, and Chat, they understand the full context of the work. This allows them to provide assistance that aligns with company policies and processes, creating personalized content in the appropriate tone and style. Users can even view their agent’s activity directly in the side panels of Workspace apps.

Agents developed in Workspace Studio can also be extended. Pre-built steps and actions make it easy to connect agents to core enterprise applications and platforms such as Asana, Jira, Mailchimp, and Salesforce, improving business processes across all levels. Advanced capabilities are also available for more technical users. Custom steps in Apps Script allow teams to tailor agents to their complex business needs and integrate them with internal tools, ADK agents, and their own models via Vertex AI.
