This week, it was announced that the Gemini artificial intelligence is becoming an integral part of business licenses for Google Workspace. Google is revising its licensing structure and adjusting pricing offers. Most users can now:
In Gmail: compose emails, generate quick replies, and manage inboxes more efficiently.
In Docs: generate text, translate into any popular language, and create and enhance complex documents.
In Slides: create impressive presentations with generative visualizations in minutes.
In Sheets: analyze data and generate convenient templates for various tasks.
In Meet: automate note-taking and summarize key meeting points.
In Vids: generate videos based on text prompts with flexible editing options.
In Gemini Chat: use the AI assistant for searching and analyzing data both on the internet and in files stored on Google Drive.
In NotebookLM Plus: analyze notes and documents from various sources.

Key Changes:
- Google’s best AI assistant is now available in Google Workspace Business and Enterprise plans without requiring an additional add-on purchase.
- Starting January 15, 2025, AI features will begin rolling out in Google Workspace Business editions. Gemini, as standalone licenses for Google Workspace, will no longer be available for new or existing customers.
- Starting January 29, 2025, AI features will begin rolling out in Google Workspace Enterprise editions.
- Pricing updates: Google will update pricing for Google Workspace Business and Enterprise plans to reflect the added value.
The changes apply to the following licenses:
- Business Starter
- Business Standard
- Business Plus
- Enterprise Starter
- Enterprise Standard
- Enterprise Plus
Impact on existing standalone Gemini licenses:
- After January 31, fees for all existing Gemini for Google Workspace licenses will no longer be charged. Customers can continue using Gemini features for Google Workspace without interruption.
- Prepaid contracts for standalone Gemini for Google Workspace licenses will be credited and proportionally applied to the current Google Workspace contract starting February 2025.
Language Availability:
- Gemini in the side panel is currently available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Korean, and Japanese.
- The Gemini web app is available in more than 45 languages, including Ukrainian.
- NotebookLM Plus supports over 35 languages, including Ukrainian.
Privacy, Security, and Compliance:
- Customer data is not used for model training or human review outside your domain without your permission.
- Google has global privacy commitments.
- Google Workspace holds certifications for HIPAA, ISO/IEC 27001, 27701, 27017, 27018, 9001, and 42001.
Pricing and Existing Licenses:
- Pricing plans will be updated on March 17, 2025.
- Google will honor contract terms for customers with annual/fixed plans or subscription discounts.
